Welcoming a baby, honouring a family.
The first few months with a new baby have a way of turning life upside down.
Life suddenly revolves around feeds, sleepless nights, tiny milestones and discovering the Little Person who has arrived and changed everything.
A baby blessing is an opportunity to pause in the middle of all of that.
Not because life has settled down, but because some moments are worth marking while you’re still living them.
Creating your ceremony
No two families are the same, so no two baby blessings should be either.
Some parents want to include readings or prayers that have been part of their family for generations. Others are starting from a blank page and simply know they want to gather the people they love to welcome their child.
We’ll explore what matters to you, the people you’d like to involve and the promises or hopes you’d like to express as your child grows.
By the end, you’ll have a ceremony that feels as though it belongs to your family - because together, that’s exactly what we’ll have created.
Baby Blessing Day
After more than twenty years working with young children, I’ve learned one thing: they don’t follow scripts!
And that’s part of the joy!
If your baby cries, needs fed, falls asleep or decides that this is the perfect moment to make themselves heard, nothing has gone wrong. It’s simply part of welcoming a real child into a real family.
The ceremony will unfold around your child, not the other way round.
It’s their day after all!
What matters to me
I’ve spent more than two decades working with young children and their families. If there’s one thing that experience has taught me, it’s that children flourish when they know they are loved, accepted and surrounded by people who delight in them.
A baby blessing isn’t only about welcoming a child. It’s also about recognising the people who will love them, encourage them and help them discover who they are as they grow.
One day, your child may look back at photographs from this ceremony without remembering it. My hope is that they’ll see a room full of people who had already begun loving them, believing in them and making promises about the part they hoped to play in their life.
